So Rubicon finally hit Tranquility and I guess most of us will be scooting around in interceptors, doing ludicrous speeds! The Ascendancy implant set still sounds a bit out of my reach but to be honest, its uses seems kind of limited. I could see one of these sets being useful if you are trying to solo pvp in cruisers, potentially battle cruisers. It may help you separate the fastest ships from a gang, but in my opinion it feels more useful when trying to evade fast gangs all together, when you are flying something slower than them. If they normalize at approximately the same levels as existing pirate implant sets, then snakes/crystals or slaves might end up more beneficial.
Interbus telling me I suck
One of the features I had been looking forward to was the ISIS. Since i started playing, I have amassed about 50-55 million skill points. At this point, I can fly most ships.
As it turns out, I have to rephrase myself. I can sit in pretty much every sub capital ship in the game. When I lived abroad 2 years ago now, I didn't really play EVE all that much. I was in a very different timezone and most of the guys I played with were in different time zones altogether. So for atleast 6 months, I played the crap out of Skill Points online, selecting the longest skills i could do, such as Turret 5 skills and Cruiser 5 skills. I thought I was a pretty proficient pilot, atleast in terms of which ships I could utilize with an average competency. I was wrong. Interbus just broke me the news, I pretty much have Mastery lv 2 for all my ships. Heck, I even have Rookie Ship mastery 2!
Of course, most of these the requirements I lack are minor in the sense that they are 1-2 day skills until i push mastery up to lv 4. But until ISIS, I had no idea!
I ended up not undocking much today. I got home late and had other stuff to do. Tomorrow will be more of the same, but hopefully I'll get some mails to talk about. I have been "theory crafting"(I use that term lightly!) about a few new cheap fits that will hopefully throw some people off guard.
Crotching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
One of the few things I did do today was taking a small 4-5 system loop around the Heimatar/Metropolis area to find some syphons. I think this feature will be a lot of fun, and I hoped I would find one for the brief moments I had available, but I found nothing. Except a station-less system with 4 people in local, not including me. Scan showed only a venture on scan. I grew a bit weary.
One of the things I believe the new SoE frig will be useful for is doing a proverbial tea bagging of pirates and "legitimate" pvpers in low sec. Will plexers be able to cloak a few of these in their sites baiting out the soloers with their plexing ships? I wasn't in a ship capable of doing anything to the venture or the possible fleet that could be lurking in the plex. It later turned out that my corp mates were more daring and ended up killing the venture on several occations. Venture Pilot
I should probably stop analyzing these ships the way I do them and just do it!
I'll get there, eventually.
Oh god, this warp speed change is going to cost me so many ships! I undocked for a brief moment in my Cyclone when Mixu called out for help to fight a small gang he had come across. Flying one class above the rest usually didn't amount to much of a problem for me pre Rubicon. I would usually arrive in the nick of time, but with these changes I was pretty unable to just tag along in my usual fashion. Positioning and luring will be skills we all need to work on a lot more and is certainly something we need to be more aware of as time goes on! Sadly, we didn't catch them. They weren't interested in fighting, and we lost them a few jumps out. Nothing noteworthy to report.
